Books on My Must Read List

Books on My Must Read List
For quite some time, I’ve tried to be more intentional with the images and ideas I consume and I’ll be very frank with you guys…I’m the worst! Over the last year I’ve been following more self published authors, independent book clubs like Well Read Black Girl and other book subscription services like Noir Reads.  You guys, they have some really dope reads! I’m definitely excited about these books.
Following these outlets has reignited that desire and curiosity within me! Reading is definitely a pass-time that I ‘d forgotten I loved so much. I know a lot of people are choosing to read more “self-help” books, but honestly I love reading books like these because it restores my imagination and creativity. The amount of television and social media  we consume literally kills creative cells, along with critical and independent thinking.
The two main things that draw me to a book is the crafting of the title (if you’ve ever given anything a title in your life you know what I mean when I say crafting) and also the illustrations. I know that might sound so silly but it’s true! Each of these books that has an illustration, really drew me in!   The vibrant colors, the detail, and ultimately I cannot wait to make the connection between the story and why the author chose that illustration specifically for the book. As far as the titles go, I’m really intrigued. Some of them have just the right amount of ambiguity increasing my excitement!
I cant wait to dive in! Who knows? I might even do a Noir Reads giveaway! Would you be interested? Make sure you’re signed up for my email list and stay connected with me on social media for updates!
Happy reading!
