So I know weekend bags are usually for a quick getaway to the Hamptons, or a cute lil “baecation-staycation situation.” My version of the weekend bag, is what weekend girls use to carry all their werk essentials! A bit more practical, right?
So when you cant work from home, or it’s time to whip out that camera and take some blog shots, grab your weekend bag and get to werk!
On weekends, I hit the ground running and no matter where I go, my MacBook is in my bag! My laptop is like my own personal headquarters. I hold staff meetings (with myself), Im the creative director, and the editor in chief so I’m always on the clock. Werks gotta get done, right?
If I’ve been sitting in the coffee shop for hours and I cant get around writers block, Im diving right into a magazine. A magazine or a good book is the perfect source for content boosters. Whether it’s trending style, the latest beauty tips, or a millennials take on the political climate, its all the distraction I need.
Whenever I had an idea that was really good, I’d think “that was so good I don’t need to write that down.” Then guess what would be the first thing I forget….THAT! Truth is, my mind is always running 10 miles a minute. Running a blog, or your business cannot be done on a bunch of sticky notes. You need to right it down, make a plan, set deadlines and flesh it out. Get yourself a planner and lay everything out; pace yourself!
Full transparency, I don’t always look like myself. Often times (ok most of the time) I run out of the house without an ounce of makeup, and that’s 100% OK! But what if I decide to take some quick shots for the blog? A dab of concealer here, a little light lip situation there and BOOM–selfie ready!
When was the last time you had a business card put in your hand? Business cards are still a good move and you should always carry a few in your bag! Having them on hand actually encourages engagement when you’re out because you’ve got something to put in their hand.
I feel like ear phones are the universal sign for “I don’t want to be bothered” and that’s exactly why they’re always in my bag. I need to tune out the noise in order to focus! There’s only 48 full hours that I can dedicate to my own goals so I dive all the way. The fewer distractions, the better.
Portable Phone charger
Ok, my phone is like my backup headquarters! It absolutely cannot go dead, but I’m not always near an outlet. This thing comes in handy when you’re traveling, when you’re at a conference or of course, running errands. Just throw it in the bag!
Oversized Water Bottle
A good dose of staying hydrated and minding my business. Literally! When you’re trying to get your full 2 liters and run a blog, you’ve got minimal time for much else. Keeps me out of trouble and on task! Stay healthy sis!
Hand Sanitizer/ Wet Wipes
Listen, nothing can replace washing your hands with soap and water. Read that first sentence again. A girl on the go like myself should always have a pack of wet wipes or hand sanitizer, in case of emergencies.
When Im in the middle of working, I don’t have time time to figure out what I want to eat (I’m working that). I definitely don’t have time to stand in line and wait. Until I have a real moment to step away–so I don’t interrupt my work flow, you’d better keep the snacks handy!
